100% Made in Italy. Stacking chair with chromed steel tube frame. Shell in curved plywood with beech wood, natural or painted.
This stacking chair is part of the “Series 7” (1955). “Finally a chair by Jacobsen with four legs and optional arms”, the critics commented, making reference to another Jacobsen’s commercial success, the “Ant Chair,” which had only three legs and no arms. This model, which is also known as the “butterfly chair” for its soft and graceful lines, added a great deal to the modernization of Scandinavian furnishings. This represents a classic example of Jacobsen’s research of forms and materials: a simple structure in tubular steel and a single shell in bent plywood. It is a theme many looked into, especially during those particular years: Eames and Saarinen are two examples. This is considered one of the most successful chairs in the history of design. It is estimated that more than five million copies were made of it, and its success shows no signs of decreasing. Stacking chair with polished chrome tubular steel frame. Shell in bent beech wood, natural or lacquered.
